Lehigh Valley Friends Host Bucks Quarterly Meeting
Bucks Quakers held their first Quarterly Meeting of 2026 on Sunday, February 15 at the northern-most of our fourteen meetings, Lehigh Valley.
The weather was sunny with a definite chill in the air, and the ground was still covered with snow from two previous snowstorms. Luckily, the meeting has up-to-date equipment that can handle a hybrid meeting; attendance was split 50-50 between in-person and online.
The day began with worship, which was followed by a panel discussion of Lehigh Valley Friends describing how both the meeting and themselves personally have worked to reduce their carbon footprints. A YouTube video of the program will be available shortly.
Meanwhile, the children went outdoors and were treated to a hands-on lesson about identifying animal tracks and other signs of wildlife. What kid doesn’t want to talk about different kinds of animal poop?
By noon it was time for lunch, and Lehigh Valley Friends did not disappoint! The potluck was spectacular - a wide variety of foods that satisfied everyone. And the desserts! Yum!
Our meeting for business opened with a listening session facilitated by PYM’s new General Secretary, Chris Mohr, who heard about all of the amazing things Bucks Quarter Quakers are doing to battle climate change and address racism in their meetings.
Our new clerk, Susan Snipes-Wells of Fallsington Meeting, kept Friends on track through our packed agenda, which included annual reports from three meetings, and a presentation of our preliminary FY26-27 budget. Our new recording clerk, Carol Ann Gray from Plumstead Meeting, expertly captured it all in her minutes.
I hope you enjoyed the slide show which depicts Bucks Quarter Quakers during their day of worship, business, and fellowship. See you again in May!
