Friendly Conversations: Growing Up in Newtown Meeting
Newtown Friends Meeting - Then and Now
Newtown Friends Meeting in Bucks Quarter has had the good fortune to continue to grow and attract new members. But most of these new members are unaware of the rich 200+ year history of the meeting.
At an Adult First Day School program in April, burial ground liaisons – or “graveyard girls” as they are fondly known – Wendy Kane and Sharon Hulihan presented a program of memories. Over the course of several months they interviewed six life-long members of the meeting, asking them to remember what it was like to grow up in the meeting.
These interviews were woven together into a video entitled “Friendly Conversations: Memories of Growing Up in Newtown Meeting.”
The program was received with smiles, laughter, and not a few tears. It gave everyone – not just our newest members – but the whole community a better insight into what the meeting was like 50, 60, or even 80 years ago.
The program is available on YouTube; please enjoy!
