It’s tabling season in Bucks County! Tabling means reserving a space at one of the many street events that are scheduled throughout the fall and letting people know that Quakers are alive and well and more than just a face on a box of oatmeal! With my trusty “Quaker Table in a Box” I participated in four events this fall (it should have been five, but a Nor’easter caused the cancellation of the Peace Fair). Here’s a sampling of this year’s outreach:
Yardley Friends Annual Flea Market
It was a beautiful early September day and all of the yard was full of Friends and vendors. Yardley Friends worked together like a well oiled machine to make this year’s flea market one of their best.
Historic Fallsington
At Historic Fallsington on October 10th, I was joined by Friends from the meeting and engaged passersby with our game “Invented by a Quaker – Or Not? We also debuted two new table signs.
Historic Bristol and Olde Langhorne Harvest Day were held on the following two Saturdays, October 17 and October 24. One more new table sign was debuted at Bristol, and at Langhorne we had a new activity for the kids - make your own pins! While the children were drawing, Middletown Friends engaged their parents in conversation.
Thanks to all of the Friends who helped staff the Quaker table - already looking forward to next year’s fall outreach!
