The Joys and Challenges of Aging: Supporting Each Other As We Age in Community

  • Lehigh Valley Friends Meeting 4116 Bath Pike Bethlehem, PA, 18017 United States (map)

Join Lehigh Valley Friends for the next offering in their Spiritual Life Program (SLP) series. This month we will view the New York Yearly Meeting ARCH (Aging Resources Consultation & Help) video, Spirituality and Aging, as a springboard to a discussion about how we can support each other as we all age. Our discussion will be based on the model of “mutual accompaniment” developed by ARCH, exploring the queries of how we practice being vulnerable, how we practice identifying and articulating needs, and how we practice hearing others’ needs. The video is about 25 minutes long. We will plan to stop it in 2 or 3 places, inviting participants to take 2 minutes to jot down notes/reactions that we will then refer to during the discussion at the conclusion of the video.

The program will be led by the LVMM “aging group” consisting of Cathy Gumlock, Joyce Hinnefeld, Abbie Trexler, Martha Christine, Maggie Donohue, and Jo Deisher. For this SLP session, we’ll participate in person and via zoom (hybrid), beginning very shortly after announcements after the rise of meeting at 11:00 am and continue until about 1:00 pm. We’ll show the video through Zoom, so that all can view at the same time, but if you're joining from home and anticipate internet issues, you can view the video prior to the program at this link: https://www.quakeragingresources.org/2023/02/spirituality-aging-workshop/.
