Non-Violence Peacekeeping Training

  • Middletown Friends Meeting 453 West Maple Avenue Langhorne, PA 19047 (map)

You are invited to Non-Violence Peacekeeping Training on Monday, June 23, from 6:30-8:30 at Middletown Friends Meetinghouse, 453 W. Maple Avenue, Langhorne. This event is free and open to the public.

With so many protests taking place in our community and throughout the nation on the horizon comes the threat of counter-protesting. Be as prepared as possible if/when confronted by counter-protesters or agitators who show up to disrupt the peace. Verbal conflict can quickly escalate to violence, so join us to learn some strategies to keep everyone as safe as possible.

This two-hour workshop will look at several situations where the crowd could have intervened for a peaceful outcome. We will also practice how to respond when faced with similar situations.

The workshop will be facilitated by Barbara Simmons who is the former executive director of The Peace Center and taught at Arcadia University's International Peace and Conflict Resolution program for 20 years. She is a peacekeeper for the Rainbow Room in Langhorne and for various protests and events throughout the Philadelphia region.
