2022 Hiroshima Day Vigil
Doylestown Friends Meeting has a time-honored tradition of observing Hiroshima Day, when in 1945, the U.S. dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, killing or maiming hundreds of thousands of people. This year marks the 81th anniversary of this devastating bombing on Hiroshima, followed three days later by the bombing on Nagasaki.
In an effort to promote peace among nations and to create awareness of the devastating results of using nuclear weapons, Doylestown Friends invite you to join them when they will stand on the corners of State and Main Streets in Doylestown, PA, disseminating information, holding banners proclaiming “Abolish Nuclear Weapons,” and giving out peace cranes.
This year, the vigil will take place on Saturday, August 8th from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, assembling first at the meetinghouse at 10:00 am.
Doylestown Friends will have peace cranes available to hand to passersby. You are also welcome to fold and bring your own. Don’t know how to make one? Follow the YouTube video below:
