Due to budget constraints, Yearly Meeting will NOT be at Wilson College. We will be holding sessions from Thursday through Sunday in late March (27-30) at Arch Street Meetinghouse.
Philip Rose, Broadway producer and author of “A Raisin In the Sun and Other Theatrical Improbabilities” will speak at Pebble Hill Church on Feb 9 at 2 pm. Philip Rose, Broadway Producer and author of “You Can’t Do That On Broadway.” will discuss his book and his experiences producing “A Raisin in the Sun” and other shows. The film version of A Raisin in the Sun will be shown and then Philip Rose will answer questions. Call 215-348-3428. $10
Ann D’Silva and John Bailey will teach you how to do juggling. Ann and John have been doing this for a long time now. They know all the tricks. If you have seen this before, it’s another chance to hone your skills. If you don’t know how to juggle, you will learn it easily.

Janet Chisholm will be the facilitator. The training is designed to prepare Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) facilitators to conduct sessions on active nonviolence in their communities. Participants will be individuals committed to peace and justice, who have some experience facilitating groups, and are available to lead some sessions based on this model. This festival will be on February Fri 7 - Sun 9. On Friday, Annie Haslam and her five-piece band will perform material from her 25-album career. Annie has performed with the London & New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Carnegie Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, if available. It will be at the New Hope/Solebury School from 8 pm-10 pm. The Winter Festival Parade starts with the 1 mile fun Walk/Run, followed by the music of local marching bands, Philadelphia Mummers String Bands, antique cars and more. There will be the Village SnowFolk Art Exhibition created by local artists and students from New Hope/Solebury and West Amwell Elementary Schools, at First Baptist Church, 57 Bridge St. and more. The Library is pleased to present a special evening of poetry featuring Terry Culleton (George School) and Lynn Levin, on Friday, Feb 7th at 7:30 pm. Terry and Lynn have both served Poets Laureate of Bucks County and both have been widely published and acclaimed. They will read their elegant, lyrical and often humorous verse in their first-ever joint appearance.
Derek Fell, on Tues, Feb 18, at 7:30 pm, will present a slide lecture showing his own award-winning gardens in Tinicum Township through four seasons, and will discuss how his hands-on gardening experience helps him produce his beautiful books. He is also a photographer and is well-known for his books about the French Impressionist painters.
The Peace & Service Committee of Haverford Meeting has received a list of prisoners on death row in Pennsylvania. They are asking for volunteers to be pen pals to one of these prisoners and start a regular correspondence. As a seasoned writer said, it is one of the most meaningful tasks she performs. Don’t miss this chance to bring just a little ray of light to the darkness of death row isolation. Correspondence can be a form of visiting and much simpler. Unite for Peace is teaming up with Training for Change to provide a workshop for activists to think long term about the strategy and vision of the peace movement. As the United States heads toward war, local activists gather to acknowledge ancestors and plot a new course - from tired outbursts to strategic campaigns and sustainable activism. This is a retreat for Educators, and co-sponsored with Friends Council on Education, on Feb 7-9, 2003. Speakers will be Richard Brady and Irene McHenry. Richard teaches mathematics at Sidwell Friends and is a Buddhist. Irene is the executive director of Friends Council on Education. The Coordinator will work with the Dean in planning and implementing the Pendle Hill curriculum, with particular responsibility for shorter term programs, including weekend conferences and workshops, retreats, weeklong courses, summer program, programs on remote campuses, etc. Responsibilities include initiating and developing new themes which are expressive of Pendle Hill’s mission. Doylestown Meeting Friends continue their Silent Vigil for Peace at the corner of State & Main Streets, and invite members from other Meetings to participate as well. The Meeting has added the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons to the Peace Vigil Message. The Vigil is from 6 pm-7 pm every Tuesday.

If War With Should Come Fr. Daniell Hamby, rector of St Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Yardley, has announced that, should the U.S. go to war against Iraq, there will be a service that very night at 8 pm at St. Andrew’s at which anyone who wishes to pray will be welcome. St. Andrew’s would continue to hold a service on Tuesday nights until the war ends.
