Get your bargains and brownies! Middletown Friends Meeting holds it's third annual yard and bake sale. This year the proceeds from table rentals and bake sale will benefit The Bucks County Peace Center. Carter Nash is resident manager of the Volunteers of America Homeless Shelter in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Persons living there have only a bed and a closet - no TV or radio. It's time for the BASEBALL/BARBEQUE! Bring your bat and glove. If you own more than one glove please bring it in case someone else doesn't have a glove. We will play baseball until it gets dark. After, we'll have food for the grill, like hotdogs, rolls & ketchup, plus soda, pretzels, etc. Bring a good friend who can catch and bat! No matter what, it's fun! On Sat, June 15, 2002, the fun begins at 6pm and ends at 8:30pm. Cost is $3 each. If you don't know how to get to Wrightstown Meeting, call Sandy at 215-860-9747. David Somerville, 15 year old resident of Holland, worked on obtaining his Eagle Scout rank. He took a leadership role in coordinating the construction and installation of a wooden train playground structure, utilized for the children enrolled in the child development program at Chandler Hall. The train was installed on April 13th.

The Quarterly Meeting at Middletown Meeting was a great event. Programs for adults and children were wonderful. Our Business Meeting had lots on the agenda and we got through it quickly. Food was delicious! Thanks.
June is a great month for getting out. Check these options: Bird Walks at Honey Hollow every Friday morning 6:30-8am. Come and enjoy birding before work or play. Every Saturday there is a guided, activity-filled walk on scenic trails in Honey Hollow Watershed. Honey Hollow History Comes Alive every Sunday, from 1-2pm. This is a trip into the past to learn about the interesting characters who once called Honey Hollow home. Why was Honey Hollow almost buried? How did Honey Hollow became a National Landmark? On June 1st, the Second Annual International Dinner will be at Bucks County Presbyterian Church (Korean-American Presbyterian Congregation) at 1550 Woodbourne Road, Levittown. Last year over 200 people were served. Students from Russia, Ukraine, Korea, Liberia, India, Bosnia, Iraq, Mexico, Colombia and Peru will prepare the dishes for this event. You may sample as many of the dishes as you wish. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Call 215-702-3445 and leave your name, phone number, and number of places you wish to reserve. LBCCC will call you back to confirm your reservation. If you wish to bring more guests than you mentioned when you called to make your reservation, please call again. You can arrive as early as 5:30 or as late as 6:30pm.
This program is a full day conference to seek truth, consider options, and share ideas, on Saturday, June 15th, from 9am-4pm. Speakers include Steve Cary, AFSC, Nadia Hijab, author & consultant on human rights, human development, gender & the media, Ian Lustick, professor of political science at University of Pennsylvania, books include "Unsettled States, Disputed Lands." & "For the Land and the Lord: Jewish Fundamentalism in Isreal," and Lillian Peters, AFSC's Middle East Region representative, active with Israel-Palestine Peacebuilding Program. All elementary school teachers are invited to participate in this program. Public School teachers are especially encouraged to attend. There is no charge to Friends, and scholarship funds are available to non-Friends as well. This program will be at Friends Center on Friday, August 16th and Saturday, August 17th, from 9am-4pm. This Pendle Hill program is a Service-Learning and Spiritual Enrichment Opportunity for young people, ages 18-24, from June 16 to August 4. There will be individual and group service projects, workshops by respected Friends on a wide range of related topics, opportunities for worship, daily life in community with peers and other Pendle Hill residents, and room, board and a modest stipend provided. Middletown Friends Meeting holds midweek Meeting for Worship every second and fourth Wednesday at 7pm. Every third Wednesday Middletown holds Worship Sharing at 7pm.
There will be an exhibit of pictures and architecture of selected Friends Meetinghouses at Arch Street Meetinghouse. This will run from June through the summer. When you're down at Arch Street, you might want to visit the display.
Doylestown Meeting Friends continue their Silent Vigil for Peace at the corner of Court & Main Streets, and invite members from other Meetings to participate as well. The Vigil is from 6pm-7pm every Tuesday. Call 215-345-1714.
On Sunday afternoon, June 2nd, from 2-3:30pm the kick-off meeting of the Peacemaking Committee, under the care of the Metropolitan Christian Council (including PYM) will meet at Overbrook Presbyterian Church at City Avenue at Lancaster Avenue (Route 1 at Route 30), Philadelphia.
