The Peace Testimony and the "War on Terrorism": Exploring Our Differences and Commonalities

This program is led by Gene Hillman and Caroline Packard of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. The program begins at 9am and ends at 3pm. Gene and Caroline will guide participants to explore how we, and our Meetings, have been affected by the events of 9/11 and the "War on Terrorism." What does the Peace Testimony mean for us today? How can we speak our truth quietly but clearly in our daily lives?" Call 1-800-220-0796 or geneh@pym.org

Words from Dan Gottlieb @ WHYY

1) Love those whom you love, only do it more consciously. This will bring you more joy. 2) Love those whom you don't know. It will make your sense of community bigger and more trustworthy. 3) Love those whom you fear. It will make you feel safer and sleep better. 4) Love those whom you hate - it might save the world. The world has a glioblastoma, and the prognosis is poor. We must pray for a miracle. After that, let's do something to create one.

Grange Fair Tent in August

Friends, the Grange Fair is an event which brings in people from all over our area and beyond. Our tent at the Grange Fair brings kids and adults to see our displays hanging in the tent. Last year we had lots of kids painting rocks. Ann D'Silva and her son showed kids and adults how to juggle. While the kids painted rocks or watched Ann and David, their parents picked up some of our pamphlets. Some parents chatted with Friends in the tent and were truly interested. Chris Langhart and Jed Smith put up all the lights, did the electric wiring, and more. Karen Shaudys calls Friends in the Quarter to help out by being a presence at the Grange Fair tent. Last year there were Friends who forgot to go to the tent, though they had signed up. Some Friends had to do two shifts. If Friends don't sign up to help, it will not happen and we will lose our good spot at the Grange Fair. Information: 215-493-9406.
