Our annual baseball game at the Trenton Thunder in New Jersey is coming right up on Sunday, June 10th, beginning at 1:00 pm. It’s great fun! Bring your kids and friends. This is a great opportunity to relax, chat with Friends in the Quarter, and watch the game. Wally Evans has sent information to all of our Meetings. Contact your representative to order tickets. The money must be in to your Meeting’s representative by the first week of May. Trenton thunder will play the Seawolves from Erie, PA. Ticket price is $8.
Our own Jonathan Snipes ran for Supervisor of Falls Township and won by a landslide! Several people had asked Jonathan to run. He got over 1200 votes as compared to Mr. Wilson, who garnered 127 votes. Jonathan ran on the Green ticket because there had been a lack of concern for community issues and the need to protect open space. Mr. Wilson, incumbent chair of the Board, had angered residents with his rude manner. In addition, John Hunt and Betsy Falconi ran on open space issues, and won in their Townships as well. Jonathan will use Quaker process as he proceeds as Supervisor. He hopes that more Quakers will again get involved in politics!
A bus will be leaving Friends Center at 9 AM on June 10th to go to Washington for the national demonstration to oppose nuclear weapons, “Star Wars,” and the militarization of space. There is also need for photographers, set-up & clean-up crews, and coffee and drink providers.
