Voice of Peace is a project initiated by Barbara Simmons and Newtown Meeting, with support of other Quaker foundations as well. Voice of Peace will offer a counterbalance to the negative news we hear each day by creating radio stories of those who have risen above conflict, adversity, & violence. Barbara recently traveled to South Africa and collected stories of extraordinary courage and hope. Barbara and Jeannine Vannais are currently traveling to Meetings and Churches to share this project and ideas for future broadcasts.
The Tyson Fund has given a challenge grant of $10,000 which they will match dollar for dollar by May 15th. Barbara and Jeannine need our support to meet this challenge! Please consider having a presentation at your Meeting and offering your financial support to have Voice of Peace reach audiences across the region and the nation. This is your opportunity to share in the amazing work of Quakers and other peacemakers.
Donations can be sent to Newtown Meeting, PO Box 224, Newtown, PA 18940 - attention Voice of Peace. Schedule a visit by calling Barbara and Jeannine at 215-860-1162 or 215-968-6491. top
