The Peace Center's booth will be open from 10am-3pm on Dec 2nd, 9th, and 16th. When the booth is closed you may donate non-violent toys through the Customer Service area. The toys will be distributed through United Way to help needy families. Call 750-7220 for more information.
At Ice Land Rink in Hamilton, NJ on Monday, January 1st, 2000. Come celebrate the Holiday! The fun begins at noon and ends at 2 PM. Skate rental is free! Bring a friend! Cost is $4.50 per person. Information and directions: 215-860-9747
Both of the above are community events aimed at families. There are lots of children's activities. It's easy to walk from place to place. There is no alcohol on First Night. The workcamp in China is at the High Bridge School for Girls. Participants will work with local residents to transform an old school buildng into the first non-profit secondary technical school for girls in rural Hunan province. The program runs from July 22 to August 14, 2001, departing from Philadelphia. The estimated cost to participate is $2,200. Scholarship funding may be available. Also, you can ask at your Meeting. Faith & Practice will warm up the audience for folksinger John Flynn's benefit concert on Saturday, December 16th at Buckingham Friends School at 7 PM. This benefit concert is to raise funds for Doylestown's expansion of its facility project. Bring your kids and friends for this terrific concert. This first-ever capital campaign was announced at the 2000 Gathering in Rochester in July. FGC seeks to raise $2 million to support new services and expand existing ones that help meetings and Friends respond to the important challenges and opportunities present within unprogrammed Quakerism today. Plan on getting ready for Christmas! The Peace Pals and folks at Friends Home in Newtown will sing Christmas carols on December 16th, beginning at 6:30 pm (note time). Songbooks will be provided as we reve up for Christmas. After that we'll go to Goodnoe's for ice cream and goodies and chat. Parents please drop off kids at Friends Home and pick them up at Goodnoe's.
The fun begins at 6:30 and ends at 9:00. Cost is $3 each. You don't need another permission form if you were there previously. If you're coming for the first time don't forget to have your parent fill out the permission form on the back of the flyer. Friends in the Quarter are invited to the 41st Annual Peace Pilgrimage on Saturday December 9th. Begun in 1960, the Pilgrimage is a witness for peace that welcomes participants of all traditions, faiths, and ages. This pilgrimage is a 10 mile trek, symbolic of the journey of Mary and Joseph. Walk with your family and friends, and make new friends who seek a more peaceful world.
Participants will meet in the parking lot at 520 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem (corner of Broad & Elm) before 11 am. Buses will transport pilgrims to Nazareth Moravian Church on Center Square. There will be rest stops along the way. Supper will be at Christ United Church of Christ. Pilgrims may join at any point along the way. Dress appropriately for the weather. "Let Your Love Shine On," Chandler Hall's annual memorial and tree-lighting event will be held on Tuesday evening, Dec. 5th, at 7 pm. The names will be read of all people connected with Chandler Hall who have died during the past year.

You won't want to miss this! As a gift to the community, the Mercer & Michener Museums will throw open their doors for an evening of holiday delights on Tuesday, December 12th, from 7-9 pm. Admission is free.
PYM's Environmental Working Group recommends 2 websites: http://www.nrdc.org/ which has links to various environmental groups, to sources on global warming, evaluating electricity providers for Pennsylvania. Also, the National Council of Churches which supports www.webovcreation.org has information on what various religious groups can do in energy conservation and environmental education.
Freedom Walk 2000 is a prayer walk for Leonard Peltier's freedom. He is an American Indian rights activist who has been imprisoned for more than 24 years. The U.N. and Amnesty International say he's a political prisoner who should be "immediately and unconditionally released." Marchers urge Clinton to release Peltier by Executive Clemency. The prayer walk begins in Philadelphia Dec 3rd, ends Dec 10th in New York. Call 215-295-3725 for more information.
Your Coordinator has seen the Stille Helfer (Quiet Helpers) exhibit at Arch Street Meetinghouse. The exhibit comes from the German Historical Museum in Berlin. Friends are urged to see the exhibit. It is truly wonderful! The last day of the exhibit is January 31, 2000. Exhibit is available Monday - Saturday, 10am - 4pm.
