The new format for Friends who help with Chandler Hall Sundays:

10:30-11:00 AM   Quaker worship for Chandler Hall Quakers in Room 420. 
11:00 - 11:30 AM  Adult Day interdenominational Meeting for all residents in Adult Day room.

Teen Night at Wrightstown

Ann D'Silva, of Newtown Meeting, will teach juggling. Come learn all about it! Materials will be provided. Ann takes her juggling on the road to Pennsbury Manor, schools, and hospitals. The date for juggling is Saturday, Feb 20th, 7:30 PM. Bring $2. Snacks provided. For information call 672-4594. Parent pick-up is 10 PM.

Quaker Artists at Arch Street

Arch Street Meetinghouse is looking for artists willing to lend paintings for the next exhibit, Quaker Artists. All valuable paintings will be behind glass or under plastic. We have many Quaker artists here in our Quarter. If you are interested in being part of the exhibit at Arch Street Meetinghouse, call Sandy Sudofsky at 627-2667.


Bucks Quarterly Meeting for Worship and Business at Makefield Meeting

The Future Direction of Outreach in Bucks Quarterly Meeting

8:30 Registration and refreshments.
9:00 Heritage Celebration Display and Yardley Friends Meeting's video.
9:30 The Future Direction of Outreach in Bucks Quarterly Meeting.
10:30 The Bucks Quarter Singing Group will lead singing.
11:00 Meeting for Worship.
12:00 Brown bag lunch; beverage and dessert provided.
1:15 Meeting for Worship at which business will be discussed.

Friends are asked to consider the outreach discussion topics prior to the Meeting:

  • Successful Quaker outreach appeals to spiritual seekers.
  • How best to continue outreach in this direction?
  • Do we want to continue multi-site events such as the Quaker Heritage Celebration?
  • Do we want to sponsor Quarter-wide, single subject, single site programs, such as a Quaker art shows or speakers?
  • What is our presence with the media?
  • There will be a children's program both morning and afternoon. Part of the morning will be swimming at Chandler Hall's pool. Children should come with bathing suits and towels. Ann D'Silva will teach our children how to juggle! Plus many other activities! Kids of all ages welcome!


    Peaceful Parenting Workshop Series

    Register early for the Bucks County Peace Centers' Peaceful Parenting Workshop Series to be held on Wednesday evenings from Feb 24 to Mar 31 at the United Methodist Church in Morrisville (Taft and Maple Avenues in Morrisville). The cost is $30 plus $10 for the manual. The series is based on "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk." For registration and more information call the Peace Center at 750-7220.

    Conference for High School Young Friends

    Co-sponsored by Friends General Conference and Baltimore Yearly Meeting, this conference for high school Young Friends will explore the Biblical and Universalist roots of our Quaker heritage. Registration forms will be in the meetinghouses in March. The conference will be held at Catoctin Quaker Camp in Thurmont, Maryland, on October 9-11. For information call Cookie at 241-7222.

    Children's Friendship Project for Northern Ireland

    Gerry Timlin, Irish folk singer extraordinaire, will give a concert to benefit the Children's Friendship Project for Northern Ireland on Sunday, February 21st, at 3 PM, at the Lower Makefield Township Building (1100 Edgewood Rd., Yardley). Donations are $12, with the funds going to help with airfare expenses. Information: 493-8511.

    Richard III at George School

    Friends are invited to George School Walton Auditorium to see Shakespeare's Richard III on Friday, Feb 19th and Saturday, Feb 20th. Curtain time is 8 PM. Admission is free. Come see four different Richards in five acts. For information call Nelson Camp at 579-6500, ext. 6665.

    All Night At the Franklin Institute

    Saturday & Sunday, Feb 6th and 7th, are the dates this year for All Night at the Franklin Institute for Middle School Young Friends. We'll find out how robots work and explore the museum, see the Omniverse & Planetarium shows, visit the observatory. Meet in the George School parking lot opposite the meetinghouse. We will leave at 4:30 PM and have dinner when we arrive. The cost is $45.00 for the overnight, including food. On Sunday morning we worship at Arch Street Meetinghouse, snack in the parking lot, and return to George School about 1:30 PM. Flyers will be out in the mail. For information call Sandy at 860-9747.

    February Pendle Hill Offerings
     

    Feb 5-7 Clerking, with Katherine Smith. Clerks young and old, new and seasoned are invited. 
    Feb 12-14  Ministry or Madness? Quaker Educators in Public Schools. Come join other Quaker educators as we examine being a Quaker educator in a non-Quaker school. 
    Feb 12-14  Jesus at the Movies, with Anne Thomas. Look at how film-makers have used biblical texts. Cost is $190; information call 1-800-742-3150.

    BQM Worship & Ministry Committee Meeting

    Buckingham Meeting will host the Worship & Ministry committee meeting on Friday, February 12th, at 6 PM. Please bring a dish to share. The program will discuss PYM Worship & Ministry's description of purpose as well as PYM Worship & Ministry's queries. Call Paul Kester at 504-4777 for more information.

    Ministry, Eldering & Worship Gathering

    A gathering on Ministry, Eldering & Worship will be held at Newtown Meeting on Saturday, February 13th, from 9:30 AM-4:30 PM. The gathering is for Friends called to ministry and spiritual nurture, as well as a concern for their meeting's spiritual life. Friends come together to worship and pray, share experiences, lift up questions about the nature of ministry among Friends and their monthly meetings. There is no fee. Bring a bag lunch.     Potluck & Dialogue on Healing Racism

    Sponsored by the Bucks County Peace Centers, the Potluck & Dialogue on Healing Racism will be held at the Church of God's Love in Newtown, at 6:30 PM on Friday, Feb 19th. Keith Pacheco from Langhorne Presbyterian and Bill Reed from First Baptist Church of Langhorne will lead the dialogue. Bring a covered dish. Call 750-7220 for information.

    Creative Hands at Buckingham Friends

    The Creative Hands group began in January at Buckingham Friends Meeting. The purpose of the group is to learn about the needle arts such as knitting, quilting, and crocheting and then create items for people in need. It's also fun to share each other's company. Veronique Collier leads this group with her many skills in the needle arts. If you have some skills or want to learn some skills, you will want to participate in Creative Hands. The group will meet on Feb 1st and Feb 22nd at Buckingham Meeting at 7 PM. Friends in the Quarter are welcome. Come hone your skills and help others. Call Veronique at 862-5692 for more information.

    Wally Evans has ordered 300 tickets for the Trenton Thunder baseball game in Trenton on Sunday, June 13th! Tickets are $8 per person. Wally needs the count (and names) from your Meeting by May 6th. Now is the time for Friends to sign up!

    Voices 4 Peace and other music groups will "Make a Peaceful Sound" with beautiful, uplifting music to refresh one's spirits at George School Auditorium on Saturday, Feb 27th. at 8 PM. Cost is $10 members, $8 non-members, $5 students and seniors. Sponsored by the Bucks County Peace Centers. Call 750-7220 for information.

    "A Call to Conscience: an interfaith service against the death penalty" will be held at Friends Meetinghouse at 15th and Cherry Streets on Monday, February 15, at 7 PM. The goal is to bring together members of the Philadelphia area's diverse religious communities to protest the injustice of the death penalty.

    Riverkeeper will present the program Preventing Flooding, Managing Stormwater at Pennswood on Feb 2nd, from 7-10 PM. Discussion will center on improving water quality and reducing water quantity with stormwater best management practices.

    The Bucks Quarter Singing Group invites Friends to join in an evening of singing every month. This is a very informal evening of singing songs from Rise Up Singing, Worship in Song, and others. Monthly flyers are in the meetinghouses. If you want to be on the mailing list, call Sandy at 860-9747. The next meeting of the Singing Group will be on February ????
