Arch Street Meetinghouse will have Quakers in Stitchery: A Modern Ministry of Outreach on display from Oct 10 - Feb 10. The exhibit portrays Quaker history in panels of stitchery, some completed and some in progress. The exhibit is open from 10 AM - 4 PM daily except Sunday. There is a one dollar donation. This is your chance to stop by Arch Street and see another terrific exhibit.
This is it, Friends! Our Quaker Heritage Celebration
is upon us. The Coordinator has had calls from far and wide from Friends
exclaiming over our poster and brochures. Many other calls and letters
have come from non-Quakers wanting more brochures and/or information. The
posters and brochures have been sent to Arch Street Meetinghouse, the Quaker
Information Center, FGC, Burlington Meetinghouse, every Monthly Meeting
in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, and to all local historical and genealogical
societies, among others. Some 325 brochures were taken away by visitors
to the Grange Fair tent. Friends on the committee and others have put posters
and flyers out all over Bucks County. We will have air time on WDVR from
Sergeantsville, NJ, thanks to Denise Evans of Quakertown Meeting, and TV
time on Lower Bucks Cablevision. Every Meeting will have a banner on its
lawn for at least three weeks. We have had two press packet mailings to
40 different outlets, including newspapers from here to Philadelphia. The
Quaker Heritage Committee has worked hard on this project since January
of 1997. Please do your part in your Meeting to help make this event all
it can be. Friends in the Quarter have sent in small and large donations
to help us meet our budget. (You may still do so if you haven’t yet!)
Quakerism 201 will be offered this year in Bucks Quarter. Howard Cell, member of Yardley Meeting and professor of philosophy at Rowan College, will teach the class. The dates are Oct 18th and 25th, Nov 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. The cost is $25 with scholarship aid available. For information call 860-9747.
