Don’t forget to attend the discussion on Conventional Arms and Deadly Conflict at Pennswood Village on Feb. 19th at 7 PM. This program is sponsored jointly by the League of Women Voters and the United Nations Association of Bucks County. The purpose is to provide Friends with opportunities to propose ways to address problems of arms control. Four presenters will provide background for audience participation. The seminar is free. A Called Meeting of Friends About Drugs: Spiritual, Political, Social & Personal Implications will be held on Saturday, Feb 7th, from 9 AM-4 PM, at Friends Center. Topics to be considered include: the militarization of and drug interdiction at the borders, mandatory minimum sentencing, racism in drug imprisonment, and the power of addiction. There will be an "open meeting" on Nuclear Weapons and Nuclear Wastes on Saturday, Feb 21, from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM at Arch Streeting Meeting. Hal Feiveson and Ted Taylor will speak from personal experience and scientific knowledge about the difficulties and opportunities we face.
A free lecture by Harvey Gillman will be on Mon, Feb 9th, in the Barn meeting room at Pendle Hill, at 8 PM . Harvey is the outreach secretary for Quaker Home Service in England. He will speak on Spiritual Hospitality. If you’ve not heard Harvey speak before you won’t want to miss him.
United Friends School invites interested parents to an Admissions Open House on Sunday, Feb 22nd, from 2-4 PM, at the 10th Street campus. Information: 538-1733.
Middle School Friends will visit the Franklin Institute
again this year on Sat & Sun, Feb 21st-22nd. Grab your sleeping bag
and get ready for adventures! Enjoy a whole new IMAX, visit the observatory
and see the stars, check out the Robot Zoo! We will leave from the parking
lot near the meetinghouse at George School promptly at 5:00 PM, have dinner
at the Institute at 6:00 PM, and head off to the exhibits. On Sunday morning
we will have breakfast, visit more exhibits, and go to Central Philadelphia
Meeting for worship. We will return to George School about 1:30-2:00 PM.

Primary and elementary religious education for Quaker children will be the topic of discussion at Makefield on Sat, Feb 21st, from 9 AM-noon. Anyone who is, has been, or aspires to be a religious ed teacher is invited to this roundtable brainstorming, along with parents, Religious Ed committee members, and other Friends. Put together your list of things that work and things that don’t, things we need from PYM, behavior and attendance problems in your meeting. Plan to discuss curriculum and program materials from FGC. Be prepared to help PYM with suggestions for First Day School materials. This is everyone’s chance to teach and learn! Trout Fishing in America, the duo of Ezra Idlet and Keith Grimwood, will be coming to our area in March under the auspices of Buckingham Friends School. Get ready!
Makefield Meeting is starting a Young Adult Friends class for the 18-40 year old group. They will discuss single parent issues, Faith and Practice, and Quaker spirituality.
Thom Jeavons, of PYM, will the the guest speaker at the BQM Worship & Ministry committee meeting on Friday, February 13th. The covered dish dinner at Yardley Meeting begins at 6:00 PM. Come and meet Thom!
Middletown Meeting has changed its schedule on First Day mornings. The Singalong begins at 10:45 AM and Worship begins at 11:15 AM.
Thanks go the many Meetings who have helped with the Mittens and Milk project through AFSC. The project sends mittens and milk to cold and hungry children in North Korea.
Help support the United Friends School scholarship fund by attending their Sweetheart Dance at the Perkasie Fire Hall (5th and Market streets in Perkasie) on Saturday, February 14th, from 8 PM til midnight.
The Zane Center, an adult
day program located at 149 Old Cranbury Road in East Windson, is now operated
by Chandler Hall. The program is designed for adults with memory challenges
and other chronic illnesses.
