Yardley Meeting's Elders Project

Phyllis Maguire and Joe Coscia, of Yardley Meeting, started the Elders Project over a year ago. This project is a series of one to two hour interviews with elders at Yardley Meeting - Friends over 70 and some in their 60's. Children from the First Day School also take part in the interviews, asking questions and helping set up the recording equipment. The object is to depict an oral history and a history of spiritual beliefs of the 20th century. A grant from PYM New Initiatives Fund helped upgrade Phyllis' SONY HI-8 video with a used professional microphone and video tapes. Phyllis and Joe are going to turn the project into a documentary film and/or a "coffee table" book with the help of grant money. Phyllis is a professional writer and Joe is the staff photographer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Clerk's Corner

It was a delight to have so many Friends at BQM on August 17th. Special thanks go to all the hard-working folks of the Planning Committee, Falls Meeting and Workshop leaders. A pleasant day of singing, youthful frolicking, socializing, and attending to workshops and business over breakfast, lunch and dinner was enhanced by the air-conditioned new addition to Falls Meeting and the Snipes' pool. Friends who attended the business meeting are reminded to take the issues of the day back to their Monthly Meetings. Please mark your calendars for the next BQM to be held at Yardley on November 16th. - Janet Braker, clerk
