The program at the Quarterly Meeting at Southampton on February 16th was about race, segregation, and integration (or, in some cases, re-integration or re-segregation) of our neighborhoods. Friends in attendance voiced their concerns and asked, "What can I do?" The panelists responded with the following suggestions: "Be aware of the effects, rather than the intent only, of your personal choices. Where and with whom do you do business? Where do you choose to live? Where do you send your child to school? Where do you invest or donate your money? Who do you invite to dinner? Do your choices perpetuate racial segregation or re-segregation? Are your investments the investments of human and financial capital where your race is under-represented? Be intentional." These are good questions for Friends to ponder.
The new additions to the meetinghouse at Lehigh Valley Meeting are complete and the celebration will take place on Sunday, April 27th. Friends are invited for Welcome at 9:00 AM, Worship at 9:30 AM, Program of Thanks and Celebration at 11:00 AM, Refreshments and Tours of the Building at 12:00, and concluding Meeting for Worship at 2:00 PM. Friends will want to show their support for the courage and faith of Lehigh Valley Meeting members in taking on such a large project. Be there and share the joy!
Young Friends from all over the Quarter enjoyed the fruits of their fund-raising efforts by participating in an all-night volleyball marathon that was punctuated with breaks for pizza and dips in the George School pool. Over $1000.00 was raised and sent with the group from George School going to Nicaragua (save expenses). Carolyn Lyday, a George School faculty member and group leader, warmly thanked Young Friends for their efforts just before she and the group left in the early hours of March 8th. Three Young Friends from Bucks Quarter were part of that group. Thanks go to the many, many Friends who helped with this effort.

The next Interfaith Housing work day is Saturday, April 5th. We need a few strong and willing high school aged Young Friends to make the project go smoothly. Our continued support of Interfaith Housing is greatly appreciated. Again this year we need a few willing workers to help make a house into a home for a family in Lower Bucks. We will meet at the parking lot across from the meetinghouse at George School at 8:00 AM. Bring tools, lunch, and work gloves. Flyers are in the mail. Questions? Call Sandy at 860-9747.
