Vacancies at Friends Home and Friends Village

From time to time there are vacancies at Friends Home and Friends Village that cannot be filled from the waiting list. ("I'm not ready - yet.") That is the situation at the moment. If you are interested in joining one of these independent-living Quaker facilities, contact Lee Gourley at 968-3346. If you are unfamiliar with what they have to offer, come for a visit or talk to your meeting's representative on the Board of Directors.

Cost is $140 (in advance) which covers lodging and breakfasts, travel to and from Washington, and program expenses. For information call Ed Dreby at 609-261-8190.

Openings at Wrightstown Friends Nursery School

Wrightstown Friends Nursery School still has a few openings for four-year-olds for the 1997-98 school year. Call Marty Severn at 968-9900 for information about the programs at the school and/or an appointment for a visit.

Legislative Letter Writing Campaign

The Friends Peace Committee of PYM each month sends information to every meeting regarding what it considers a top priority peace issue. Each packet of information gives background information on the issue for that month, as well as sample messages for Friends to send to senators, congressmen, and the President. The committee suggests that one Sunday a month should be "letter-writing Sunday" and that the issues raised might also be included in monthly meeting newsletters. Are you and your meeting involved in this important effort? The topic for February is Ratification of the Chemical Warfare Convention. Look for it in your meetinghouse.

BQM Worship and Ministry Meeting

All Friends in Bucks Quarter are invited to the Worship and Ministry Committee Meeting on Friday, February 14th, at 6:00 PM, at Middletown Meeting. Bring a covered dish. The program will follow dinner.

Singles Group

The Bucks Quarter Singles Group has a home for the winter! Middletown Meeting has graciously offered the use of the kitchen and First Day School space for the months of January, February, and March. The next covered dish event will be on February 8th, 7:00 PM, at Middletown Meeting. For more information call Michele Burke at 504-8094.

Teen Night at Wrightstown

Teen Night at Wrightstown is on Saturday, February 8th, at 7:30 PM. Bring a friend or two, ask the parents to carpool, and enjoy the music, games, and fun! Bring a snack to share and $1 to help cover costs. For more information, call 860-9747.
