Dellview, the new building at Camp Onas, will be dedicated on Sunday, July 14th. All Friends in Bucks Quarter are invited. The day begins with Meeting for Worship at 10:30 AM, followed by the dedication ceremony and a picnic lunch on the lawn at Dellview. Afternoon activities include tours, games, and swimming. Call Camp Onas at 610-847-5858 by July 1st to let them know if you plan to attend the celebration. The camp thanks Friends for their generous support.
Dr. Barbara Malamut will speak on "Approaches to Visiting and Working with People with Memory Problems" at the covered dish luncheon meeting of the Chandler Hall Auxiliary on Monday, June 3rd, at Makefield Meeting. All Friends are invited.
United Friends School is proud to sponsor the well-known folk duo from Arkansas, Trout Fishing In America, for an evening of music and entertainment. Tickets for this concert on Saturday, August 3rd, at 7:00 PM are $12.50 each and on sale now. This concert will be held in the Boyertown High School auditorium on just off Rte 73. Save Sunday afternoon, June 23rd, for a trip to see the first-place Trenton Thunder play Canton. We will meet promptly at 12:30 PM at the parking lot across from the meetinghouse at George School. Stand for Children on June 1st at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington will be a non-partisan day for people of every race, region, income and faith to commit themsleves to improving the lives of children. Marian Wright Edelman of the National Children's Defense Fund hopes that religious communities particularly will repond to this call. Information: Jane Mahler, 345-2674.
"The society that we live in is one of the most violent in the world. Concerned people can change this." Two Alternatives to Violence workshops will be available to interested Friends in June. Both are relatively close to Bucks Quarter.
July 7-14 is the week set aside for the weeklong workcamp for Young Friends and PYM staff. The program includes work on low-income housing, visit to an African-American church, crafts projects, discussions on community, social concerns, and leadership. "Teaching as a Religious Experience" is the theme for Friends General Conference's Religious Educators' Institute on Thursday through Sunday, August 15th-18th. The conference seeks to offer those attending a chance to share insights with others about teaching as part of life's spiritual journey. The conference will be held at Camp Lutherlyn in Prospect, Pennsylvania, about one hour north of the Pittsburgh airport. BQM Friend Sally Farneth will lead a workshop entitled "How Do You Start a Curriculum from Scratch?" In addition, there will be five other workshops, plenary speakers, recreation and worship times, and activities for children.
Mickey Edgerton, clerk of PYM's Worship and Ministry Committe, and Frank Massey, General Secretary of Baltimore Yearly Meeting, will lead an Inquirers' Weekend on July 12-14 at Pendle Hill. The cost is $150 for the weekend; some scholarship aid available and most meetings also offer aid. For information call Shirley Dodson at 241-7182.
