Dear Neighbor,
Welcome to your new home! Your recent move provides an excellent opportunity to explore a new Faith Community for either yourself or your whole family. Quakers were among the first to settle Bucks County and our Faith remains alive and vibrant to this day.
We invite you to experience Quaker Worship at any of the many Meetinghouses in your area. Meeting for Worship is a time for the Meeting community to gather in communal worship, offering the potential to feel a highly palpable connection to the divine as well as give your life a depth of spiritual peacefulness and strength.
- We, The Religious Society of Friends: believe that there is that of God, or “The Light”, in everyone.
- We worship without clergy. We gather in silence, still our minds, and open our hearts. No one is appointed to lead our Worship service. We believe messages or ministry from God is directly available to all. If so moved, those present may speak out of the silence, to share the Divine message they have received.
- We believe in equality and social justice for all people and endeavor to promote these ideals. Quakers were leaders in the abolition of slavery, the civil rights movement, and the woman’s suffrage movement. We continue to work for justice, the poor, and the right sharing of the world’s resources.
- We are stewards of the earth. We are actively engaged in the struggle to preserve our natural resources and protect our environment.
- We believe in living life in peace and strive to achieve that end. Quakers historically work towards peaceful solutions to personal and global conflict. One of our internationally known Committees is The American Friends Service Committee, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
